Pipeline12 SKUs pilot-ready in 6 months

We walked in with three rough beverage concepts and walked out with a validated twelve-SKU roadmap ready for pilot fills. The team dissected every bioavailability constraint, mapped flavor-masking strategies for each active, and handed us a production-ready spec book — all in a fraction of the timeline our previous consultants quoted.

What surprised you most about working with us?

I didn't expect them to care about our margins as much as we do.

Alicia Torres Crestmoor Provisions

The speed. We kept waiting for the other shoe to drop and it never did.

Laura Jensen Shore Snackz

They told us one of our SKUs wasn't worth pursuing. Saved us $80K.

David Park Flourish & Co

How well they knew our co-packer's equipment before we even introduced them.

Outcomes that compound after launch day

Every engagement is different. The constant is measurable progress — shorter timelines, tighter specs, and products that perform on shelf.

Scale-Up40K units/day at stable texture

Honestly? We almost didn't make the call. We'd been through two other labs that kept pushing timelines and blaming our ingredients. These guys rebuilt our protein bar matrix around a dual-binder system in like three weeks. Our line operator literally said "what did you change, this stuff actually runs now." Went from 200 test-kitchen units to 40K a day with zero texture issues.

CommercializationRetail-ready in 5 months flat

Getting an infant nutrition pouch from concept to Whole Foods shelves is terrifying when you're a two-person team. They handled the HARPC documentation, co-packer vetting, safety testing — basically every piece we couldn't staff. Our retail buyer told us it was the smoothest startup onboarding she'd seen. I don't say that lightly.

Shelf-Life104-day shelf-life, zero preservatives

Our hummus line kept failing shelf-life studies at 45 days. We'd already gone through two rounds of reformulation with another lab — same result. The approach here was completely different: pH buffering layered with competitive-exclusion cultures. Pushed us to 104 days. No synthetic preservatives. Clean-label compliant. We stopped losing sleep over expiration dates.

Clean Label11% ingredient cost reduction

Retailers gave us an ultimatum — remove synthetic emulsifiers or lose shelf placement. Every alternative we tried in-house wrecked our coating adhesion. The team found a sunflower-lecithin system that passed every panel and actually dropped our per-unit ingredient cost by eleven percent. That last part was a surprise.

Sensory96th percentile sensory score

Our first kids' bar prototype tested as "chalky and medicinal" — that's a death sentence in the children's aisle. They rebuilt the whole flavor architecture around layered sweetness and natural fruit volatiles. Relaunch scored 96th percentile in category sensory benchmarks. My five-year-old eats them for breakfast now, so there's that.

Scale-Up<1% QA variance across 3 co-packers

Scaling our frozen beverage from regional to national meant reformulating for three different filling platforms at the same time. They delivered specs tailored to each co-packer's equipment while keeping flavor consistent across all three. QA variance dropped below one percent. Our ops team still talks about it.

Shelf-Life94% collagen retention post-retort

Look, collagen RTD that survives retort without denaturing or tasting like cardboard — that's not easy. We knew that going in. After a series of thermal-mapping trials, the final formulation retained 94% bioactive collagen at a 14-month ambient shelf-life. Our investors called it a competitive moat. I just call it good science.

Sensory38% repeat-purchase increase

We had the stretch and melt dialed in on our plant-based cheese, but every consumer panel flagged the mouthfeel. The reformulation centered on a modified starch-protein gel network. Repeat-purchase rate jumped 38% in Q1 after relaunch. The first iteration wasn't quite there — but they turned around a second version in nine days that nailed it.

CommercializationConcept to 120 stores in 4 months

We had a napkin sketch for a high-protein puffed snack and zero extrusion experience. Four months later we had a validated protocol, two qualified co-manufacturers, and retail-packaged samples. Launched in 120 stores on our first distribution push. Still a little surreal.

Clean Label75-day HPP shelf-life, flavor intact

Three other labs tried to reformulate our salsa verde for HPP and every version lost that fresh-roasted character our customers know. The approach here used controlled Maillard pre-treatments before the HPP step. 75-day cold-chain shelf-life. Flavor intact. My mom tasted it and didn't know the difference — that's the real benchmark.

Pipeline<2% GI complaint rate at full dose

Building a prebiotic fiber beverage that doesn't cause GI distress at the efficacious dose was the hardest problem in our pipeline. The solubility and fermentation-rate modeling they did let us hit the clinical threshold while staying below the bloating curve. Consumer complaint rate on GI comfort dropped to under two percent. That number used to keep me up at night.

AP
Anika PatelChief Science Officer, Novome

They actually showed up to our plant. Spent two days on the floor with our line crew troubleshooting a moisture migration issue nobody else could figure out remotely. Fixed it on-site. That kind of thing doesn't happen with most labs.

Tariq AminQA Manager, Just Munch

Best lab we've worked with. Period. They turned our mess of a formula into something a buyer at Sprouts actually got excited about.

ML
Megan LiuFounder, Hey Bite

They fixed in two weeks what took our previous partner six months to not fix. I wish I was exaggerating.

Common Questions

What brands ask before they start

What types of food and beverage brands do you work with?
Pretty much all of them. Early-stage startups with a napkin sketch, growth-stage DTC brands trying to scale past their first co-packer, enterprise CPG teams reformulating a legacy line — we've done all three this month alone. Bars, beverages, snacks, sauces, frozen, dairy alternatives, functional supplements. If it goes on a shelf or in a fridge, we've probably formulated it.
How long does a typical engagement take?
Depends on the project. A single-SKU formulation with shelf-life validation usually runs 8–12 weeks. Multi-SKU pipelines or full commercialization programs with co-packer qualification — more like 4–8 months. We'll give you a realistic timeline on the first call, not an optimistic one.
Can you reformulate an existing product without changing the taste?
Short answer: yes. Longer answer: every reformulation project — whether it's clean-label, cost reduction, or allergen removal — goes through rigorous sensory benchmarking against the current product. We don't ship anything that fails a triangle test against the original.
We've been burned by labs that overpromise. How is this different?
We hear this a lot, honestly. The difference is we'll tell you when something won't work before you spend money on it. We've talked brands out of SKUs that didn't make sense. We don't bill for optimism — we bill for outcomes you can take to a buyer or an investor.
Can you work with our existing co-packer?
Yep. We tailor formulations to specific equipment constraints and line capabilities. If your co-packer has limitations we can't work around, we'll flag it early and help you find one that fits. We've qualified co-manufacturers across the US and Canada.
